Dallins Haircut

Dallin has been on a kick of wanting to grow out his hair for the past like 6 months and I have hated it all along the way lol He looks so much better with short hair I think and so I have been buggin him the last couple weeks that he at least needed to go and get it trimmed up so that its not so shaggy looking. So yesterday when I picked him up from school I told him that we were going to go get his hair cut. He of course was mad at first and said that all they could do was trim it. So as we were driving there I said "Why dont we cut it all off and surprise dad when we get home". Expecting him to say no like he has for the last 6 months he sat there for a min and said ok . I was shocked and asked him if he was sure and that he really didnt have to cut it all off if he didnt want to. And he said its ok we can do it. 
Well if I would have know he was going to cut off all his hair I would have taken better before pics but this is the only one I go. On my phone while we were waiting for his turn lol
So after everything and having a slight nervous breakdown when he saw all the hair falling he ended up loving his new hair cut and says that it feels so much lighter. And that he thought that it was funny today when he went to school and everyone was telling him that he didnt look like that same kid.:)

Midway Ice Castles

After we went sledding we went to the Midway Ice Castles. Dallin was super excited to go to the castles from the time he saw them online. I decided that the best time to go was at dusk. That way you could see them in the light but then the sun went down there are lights in the Ice that makes everything light up. It was really amazing to walk into all the caves and tunnels and be surrounded in ice.

The kids by far favorite part was the ice slide. The kids went into a tunnel and up some stairs and were able to come down a totally enclosed ice slide. They waited in line about 5 or 6 times to do the slide.

Here is a little info back story on the Ice Castles 

We start by “growing” more than 5,000 icicles each day that we harvest and sculpt together.  Newly placed icicles are then drenched in freezing water.  The blend of icicle placement, changing temperatures, water volume, and wind result in an astonishing variety of ice formations.  And so all of the beauty you see at the ice castle is a unique blend of an artistic eye and mother nature’s work.

We repeat this process once or twice a day, depending on temperatures. and after about a few weeks of growth we can create very large towers, tunnels, archways, caves, caverns, and safe pathways for pedestrian exploration.  Continued development of the structures throughout the winter results in an evolving ice masterpiece.
