Dallins first day of 2nd grade

Dallin started 2nd grade last week on 8/21 he was excited but also nervous that he was not going to know anyone because he switched schools this year. But when he got to school he ended up knowing about 5 kids in his class that he went to kindergarten with. He ended up having a fun day but is also complaining that he wants summer to be here again lol Logan was sad that he wasn't going to school but I reminded him that his school starts in a few weeks :) So he was fine with that and was excited to go and pick up Dallin from school.

 

Minnetonka Caves

We all got up on Monday morning and went to the Minnetonka Cave for a tour. It was raining this day so we couldn't go to the beach anyways so it was a good way to still do something fun. It has been about 4 years from the last time that we went so it was fun to go again. Everyone did great hiking up all those stairs.

"Minnetonka Cave is a limestone cave a half-mile long of which 1,800 feet has been developed for guided tours to the public. The elevation of the cave is 7,700 feet. It is located on the Cache National Forest near St. Charles, Idaho, and is administered by the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, Montpelier Ranger District.
    The cave is used by the Townsend big-eared bat, and the season of operation is managed to consider the hibernation of this sensitive species.
    The tours take visitors past lit cave formations and through its large, winding passages. The tours require walking in 40 degree air for just more than a half-mile and up and down 444 stone or metal steps."

 

Bear Lake Vacation

This year for our yearly family vacation we all packed up and drove to Bear Lake. We stayed for 5 days and the kids had so much fun playing in the water. I do have to say we had to worst luck on this trip with car problems (started out with a gas leak then the alternator went out on the truck and we had to drive four hours to get a new one because the first one they gave us was the wrong one so we had to drive back the next day another 2 hours,we got locked out of our truck and had to call a locksmith to the campground to get into the truck and we broke our shade canopy from a strong gust of wind that ripped it out of the sand on the beach and sent it flying) Other then that I was so glad that we had people there to help us out. And between the four of us we had about 75 mosquito bites. I won that count with a total of 42. Yes I still have scabs on my legs and feet (so many bugs camping on the beach)

But over all the kids had so much fun and loved the fact that they could run and play all day long. And even better we were all excited that grandma and grandpa Dewolf were able to join us. Here is a crap load of pics :)
